Our Twelve Divine Powerswith
MaDar and Trikaya
It is written in scripture that we are created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26). The passage is easy to find, and easy to read. But, beginning to understand the magnitude of what it means is not as easy.It is becoming more accepted that we have 7 basic energy centers, or chakras, within our body. And, that these energy centers resonate at certain frequencies. What we are also aware of is that these are not the only energy centers we have. In fact, there are hundreds of lesser points located along the meridians of our body that are used in acupuncture.
In his book, The Twelve Powers of Man, Charles Fillmore, one of the founders of the Unity Church, and a early leader in the New Thought movement, described twelve spiritual centers within our body that are associated with our Spiritual nature. These energy centers were not specifically associated with the chakras. They had a physical location, and were a source of a specific spiritual faculty, or power.
This was, and is, a profound revelation. It provides a foundation to begin to understand how we could be created in the image and likeness of God. It provides a nexus for the personal and impersonal relationship with the Divine. It provides a link between energy and form.
Each Spiritual center resonates with a spiritual principle that is active, not only within us, but within all of creation. The first power is seated at the base of the spine, and is associated with Life energy. It is or ability to mend, restore, an draw upon Spiritual energy for all life functions. It is the energy of Life itself, not just our life, but all of Life.
We may be able to understand the function of the spiritual centers more clearly if we consider the function of the lungs. The lungs draw oxygen from outside of our body for use within our body. In the same manner, these spiritual centers draw God's divine spirit to enliven God's power within us.
We have also drawn from William Warch's wonderful book, How to Use Your Twelve Gifts from God, for a more modern approach to Charles Fillmore's original thesis. We would recommend reading both Charles Fillmore's and William Warch's books, as well as searching for "The Twelve Powers" on the internet, for more information.
Our additions to this work consists of associating the tones and sounds with the powers. After working with the tones for sometime we discovered that the location for the Power of Love would be an F# instead of an F, and that the F would be Understanding. This shifted the power center for Understanding from the head to the heart.
We have also found that all these powers have both a unique energy and intelligence, and that by activating them, the intelligence within them reveals itself to us.
We have also found, like we have found with all things spiritual, the true application of spiritual principles occurs not solely through study, but when we embody them for ourselves. Our work is focused on that goal.
